The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Committee on Energy and Public Utilities held a public hearing yesterday on the proposed joint venture agreement between the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) and the PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation. City Councilor Archie Baribar, who chairs the committee, said he hopes to provide a committee report to the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel before they make their decision on the matter.
The city official said he will submit his committee report for approval next week.
Amlig-Tubig, a multi-sectoral water consumers’ alliance group, earlier urged the Baciwa Board of Directors to take an “inclusive approach” on the proposal. City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., one of the conveners, also urged Baciwa to include the water-consuming public in discussion on the merits of the terms of reference and provisions of the contract with PrimeWater.
The organization earlier acquired an official copy of the terms, which was signed by Baciwa and the Joint Venture Selection Committee, and accepted by PrimeWater./DGB, WDJ
