Manila Southwoods continues to lead

Manila Southwoods continues to lead the ongoing 73rd Philippine Airlines Interclub Golf Tournament at the Bacolod Golf and Country Club at Hacienda Binitin in Murcia. After Day 2, they closed with 237 points, ahead of the Del Monte Golf Club on 230 and Luisita Golf and Country Club with 221.
Sean Ramos added 32 points to the Southwoods tally.
With the tournament format allowing teams in lower divisions to vie for the overall title, the current leaders are also only three points clear of Founders Division front runners, the Forest Hills Golf and Country Club.
“I just think that it’s unfair for all of the teams in contention because we will all be playing under different conditions,” said Southwoods non-playing captain Thirdy Escano.
In addition, Founders Division side Tagaytay Highlands is currently even with the Del Monte Golf Club.
Southwoods opened the competition with a lead after Aguri Iwasaki delivered 37 points, Yuto Katsuragawa closed with 30, Josh Jorge contributing 28, and Vince Lauron chipping in 27.
“We’re happy with how things turned out, considering how tough the conditions were,” Southwoods team official Jerome Delariarte said earlier. “It was very difficult out there and our players performed well enough to put the team in the lead.”/ASC, WDJ
