Philippine National Police (PNP) director, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa, yesterday revealed he will submit the validation report on the police officers placed on the drugs watchlist to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). During a press conference, the PNP official said the validation is complete but they have to prepare resolutions on each officer.
“We’re asking if we could submit it [on], maybe, March 9,” he said.
Gamboa added, he will first show the report to DILG Secretary Eduardo Año before presenting it to President Rodrigo Duterte.
The watchlist made headlines after former Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) deputy director, Police Lt. Colonel Jovie Espenido, was added to the list. In response, he denied allegations of involvement with illegal drugs and expressed suspicions of an “influential politician” being responsible for his inclusion.
“I cannot really pinpoint but one thing I can tell you—greedy, a greedy kind of person,” he said.
Aside from drug allegations, Espenido is also facing administrative raps after violating Gamboa’s gag order after he hosted a press conference last month at BCPO headquarters.
He is presently assigned under the Police Regional Office-6 Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit./DGB, WDJ
