Four people were rescued over the weekend after their fishing boat capsized in the waters near San Carlos City. Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Negros Occidental chief, Lt. Commander Jansen Benjamin, identified the four as Jail Inspector Ian Carl Niaga, Jail Officer 1 Michael Oliver Facio, Romeo Mabilog, and Antonio Yanson.
The coast guard official said, as soon as they got out to sea, their boat was battered by strong winds and big waves causing their vessel to capsize. Several fishing boats in the area immediately initiated a rescue operation and the four were plucked from the water.
Benjamin said the four did not suffer any serious injuries; however, Mabilog was rushed to the city’s district hospital after complaining of hypertension./DGB, WDJ
