After Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who heads the city’s Solid Waste Action Team, earlier disclosed the city would begin strictly implementing the “no segregation, no collection” policy effective March 1, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the starting date will be moved to April 1.
The mayor explained, following a consultation with Familiaran, he is set to approve a Liga ng mga Barangay (Liga) resolution requesting the postponement.
“While the vice mayor and I understand their situation and will grant their request, it must be made clear that this should be the last postponement,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Liga President Lady Gles Gonzales, who sits on the Sangguniang Panlungsod, said 11 barangays have already implemented the policy; namely Barangays 17, 18, 22, 31, 37, Alangilan, Bata, Alijis, Estefania, Handumanan, and Taculing./WDJ
