Barangay Ginebra San Miguel maintained playing rights for Greg Slaughter despite the PBA center earlier announcing plans to take a break. The team extended an offer sheet in order to prevent the player from becoming a free agent.
“If no offer is made within 30 days, the player is a free agent,” explained PBA deputy commissioner Eric Castro.
However, San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua said the player should approach management for a new deal.
Slaughter was the first overall draft pick by Ginebra in the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft and went on to win six championships, including last year’s PBA Governors’ Cup.
