The Philippine Army 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IB) recently received additional troops with the 14th Civil Military Operations Battalion beefed up to address the ongoing insurgency issue across Negros.
Their immediate deployment will serve to reinforce and sustain community support program teams across the island.
“We welcome the additional troops deployed in Negros to boost our efforts in our campaign against the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) and to support the implementation of Executive Order No 70,” said 303IB commander, Army Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte.
The order, signed in 2018 by President Rodrigo Duterte, calls for a national task force to end local armed conflict with the CPP-NPA insurgency.
“The Philippine Army is sincere in our mandate to support the ‘whole-of-nation approach’ to ending local Communist armed conflict in Negros,” the military official added. “With the support of local government units, other agencies, and communities we will achieve a peaceful province.”/DGB, WDJ
