A reported love triangle ended in a deadly shooting yesterday morning at Purok Katilingban in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago. Police identified the fatality as 25-year-old Stephen Grajo, a resident of the said area.
Initial investigations carried out by Police Station 3 (PS3) said Grajo was walking when he was confronted by the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Arvin Sayson, a resident of Purok Kawayan in the said barangay. The assailant then pulled out an improvised 12-gauge shotgun and opened fire. He immediately fled while bystanders rushed the victim to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Police recovered the suspect’s murder weapon from the crime scene along with an empty 12-gauge shotgun shell.
In a follow-up interview with the victim’s cousin, Donard, he claimed the murder stemmed from a love triangle between Grajo, Sayson, and a 17-year-old female.
He said Grajo was also armed at the time of the murder but was unable to draw his firearm in time to defend himself.
Police are now conducting manhunt operations against the suspect./DGB, WDJ
