The Utilities Consumers Alliance of Negros (UCAN) is requesting the Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. (Ceneco) address the reported P30,000 bonuses awarded to their employees during this year’s Annual General Membership Assembly in April. UCAN legal counsel Vicente Petierre said, while they are not opposed to awarding bonuses, they would like an explanation for the basis of the bonus.
According to Ceneco Vice President Roy Cordova, the utility co-op provides P7,000 bonuses for each of their workers annually. He noted, management recommended upping the amount to P30,000.
He explained, upon release, P4,000 will be deducted for Ceneco performance standards.
However, Ceneco Member-Consumers Integrated Services Division chief Roel Venus affirmed, “We have not received anything from the P30,000.”
“What we have received this month, representing our anniversary bonus, was an amount of P7,000,” he stated.
Venus said the P30,000 proposal is still pending approval by the National Electrification Administration./DGB, WDJ
