Ceres FC draws Vietnamese club
Ceres-Negros FC drew 2-2 with V.League 1 side Than Quảng Ninh last Tuesday in the ongoing 2020 AFC Cup group stage at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.
“We didn’t play good (sic),” said Ceres head coach Risto Vidaković. “It’s not the way we normally play.”
“We played too slow [and] couldn’t read the game,” the coach explained. “Some players did not play their best.”
“Let’s see what we can do for the next game,” he added.
Striker Jeremie Lynch opened scoring for the Vietnamese side in the 26th minute. The Bacolod City side eventually scored an equalizer deep into first half stoppage time after midfielder Bienvenido Marañon successfully converted a penalty.
Into the second half, midfielder OJ Porteria put Ceres ahead 2-1 in the 62nd minute but the scores was tied anew after Than Quảng Ninh midfielder Nguyen Hai Huy made it 2-2 in the 70th minute.
With Cambodian side Svay Rieng scoring a 2-1 win over Indonesia’s Bali United, Ceres remains atop Group G with four points.
