The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) recently passed a resolution requiring all Bacolod City government offices, barangay offices, along with public and private schools to have hand disinfectants available to the public due to the ongoing threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019, or Covid-19. Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez, who authored the resolution, said the policy seeks to increase disinfecting measures and ensure public safety.
“Hand disinfectants placed in various high-traffic areas, such as government facilities, can be readily availed for free by the public is one out of many efforts that will lower the risk of acquiring the virus,” the city official explained.
Earlier this month, the SP passed a resolution last week encouraging local businesses to promote proper hygiene by providing hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, and hand soap to customers. According to City Councilor Cindy Rojas, who chairs the SP Committee on Health, the policy is important due to Covid-19.
The resolution calls on malls, restaurants, and other commercial establishments to provide the mandated amenities./DGB, WDJ
