Newly-appointed Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, Police Colonel Eric Dampal, as part of his internal cleansing initiative, called on police officials to refrain from taking hush money from individuals involved in illegal activities, such as drugs and unlicensed gambling.
“We have to stand on the directives from the national office,” the law enforcement official stated. “Those caught violating my order will suffer stiffer penalties; they have to face administrative sanctions.”
He also wishes to increase the local police force.
“I want to see more police personnel on the field, especially in areas where more crimes usually happen,” Dampal explained. “We expect the regional headquarters will send us more men.”
After taking the post last week, the ICPO chief revealed his plans to concentrate on campaigns against illegal drugs and illegal gambling, along with internal cleansing.
“I’m so particular on internal cleansing,” he said.
