Hinoba-an Mayor Ernesto Estrao confirmed construction on the P125 million Hinoba-an District Hospital will begin this year in the town’s Barangay Pook.
“It will be a 50-bed capacity hospital that will not only cater [to] patients from Hinoba-an but also from neighboring towns and cities,” the mayor said.
He explained, once the Department of Environment and Natural Resources releases an environmental compliance certificate for the project, construction will immediately commence.
The budget, which will be funded by the provincial government, was approved last year, Estrao said.
The mayor also revealed the municipal government donated one hectare of land for the hospital after the first site, located in Barangay Bacuyangan, encountered a problem surrounding the property donation.
Meanwhile, Estrao pointed out, Hinoba-an is now home to the Philippine Coast Guard Academy, located on a 10-hectare property in the town’s Barangay Talacagay, which has 841 special operation trainees making up their first batch.
“We expect international vessels to dock in Hinoba-an because of the Philippine Coast Guard Academy,” the mayor added./DGB, WDJ
