Over 100 graduating senior high school students took qualifying examinations for the 2020-2021 SM Foundation scholarship, which covers full tuition along with other benefits.
“At our partner schools, students’ choice of specialization includes accounting, information technology, engineering, and education,” said SM Foundation assistant manager for education programs Greg Baclea-an. “It was SM founder Henry Sy, Sr. who believed, when a family member graduates from college and starts earning, that scholar can help another sibling go to school and serve as the key to lift their family out of poverty.”
Aside from tuition, scholars will also receive a monthly allowance and are eligible to work part-time or take advantage of seasonal employment at SM.
The SM Foundation implemented digital examinations this year, making the process faster and more efficient.
Students who pass the exam qualify for the next round.
Online screenings are currently being held at different venues across the country. (PR)
