At least four people were confirmed dead, while two others were seriously injured, following a collision between a car and a motorcycle early yesterday morning at Kilometer Marker 39 in Manapla’s Barangay Tortosa. Police identified the fatalities as 80-year-old Angeles Salmorin, 83-year-old Dolores Granada, 56-year-old Delina Abana, and 15-year-old Jeljuridi Labrador.
Additionally, 77-year-old Rolinda Barte and 39-year-old Anabelle Estil were injured in the incident.
Manapla Municipal Police Station chief, Police Captain Jaynick Bermudez, said, around 2:45 a.m., the car, which was driven by Froilan Samillano, was heading north towards Cadiz City when he collided with Labrador’s motorcycle. The victims were immediately rushed to the Kaayong Lawas Clinic in Victorias City, where Salmorin and Labrador were declared dead on arrival.
The remaining four victims, meanwhile, were transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City.
After initially being stabilized by medical staff, Abana and Granada later passed away while receiving treatment.
