Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the provincial government is prepared should President Rodrigo Duterte visit following reports the president plans to visit “every holiday destination in the country” in order to dispel fears of traveling due to an ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19.
The governor recommended the president to visit The Ruins in Talisay City, Lakawon Island in Cadiz City, and the Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia.
Earlier, Duterte encouraged Filipino tourists not to be afraid and assured their health and safety.
Among the list of tourist spots Duterte may visit in the coming weeks include Boracay, Cebu, and Bohol.
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles previously noted, the local tourism industry has been affected by the Covid-19 threat with the Department of Tourism estimating losses of up to P42.9 billion by April of this year./DGB, WDJ
