Makati beats Bulacan
Juneric Baloria led the Makati Super Crunch in their 94-88 win over the Bulacan Kuyas in the 2019/2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup playoffs earlier this week at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
Trailing by six points midway in the fourth quarter, Baloria spearheaded a run for Makati by scoring seven of the team’s 14 unanswered points, giving his side an 81-74 edge with 4:42 left to play. Bulacan then managed to close the gap to two points on conversions from JR Alabanza and Oliver Arim; however, Joseph Sedurifa and Joshua Torralba pushed Makati to a 94-81 edge with 32 seconds left to play.
Baloria finished with 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting, along with three rebounds and two assists, for Makati; while Sedurifa contributed 17 points, seven boards, four assists, and two steals; and Cedric Ablaza added 17 markers as well.
“Naging patient lang kami sa depensa (Our defense was patient),” said Makati head coach Beaujing Acot. “Tumaas ‘yung energy, saka gumanda ‘yung shooting percentage namin (The energy was high and we had a good shooting percentage).”
Meanwhile, Jovit Dela Cruz and Adven Diputado led Bulacan with 17 points apiece.
