The Bacolod City government recently purchased 1,000 sets of personal protective equipment to combat the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19. According to Executive Assistant Jomarie Vargas, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) cluster head and member of the Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force Against Novel Coronavirus, each unit cost P3,750 and will be utilized by barangay health emergency response teams.
Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan of the City Health Office and personnel from the CDRRMO demonstrated proper use of the equipment earlier this week at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Vargas said the orientation sought to promote preparedness and response plans; along with establishing guidelines to prevent, contain, and mitigate possible transmission of the virus.
He added, the task force also distributed face masks, rubbing alcohol, and gloves.
Earlier, the city government allocated P10 million to the task force./DGB, WDJ
