A motorcyclist was arrested Sunday night at a police checkpoint along South Avenue in Escalante City’s Barangay Balintawak. Authorities identified the suspect as 23-year-old Jeboy Lagahit of the city’s Barangay Hacienda Fe.
According to police, Lagahit was driving southbound and was flagged down at the said checkpoint. When officers asked to see his license, he refused to comply and was issued a citation. The suspect then attempted to dispose of the contents in his pocket; however, a police officer noticed and found he was trying to get rid of two sachets of suspected shabu.
The suspect was taken into custody and is currently detained at the Escalante City Police Station, where his motorcycle was impounded.
