Silay City hacienda raided for firearms

Two individuals were arrested over the weekend after the Silay City Police Station, alongside the Negros Occidental Police Mobile Force Company and Special Action Force, raided Hacienda Marigasa 1 in the city’s Barangay E. Lopez after serving a search warrant. Authorities identified the arrested suspects as 46-year-old Rey Aballes and 60-year-old Henry Benauro, both of the said neighborhood.
According to Silay City Police Station officer-in-charge, Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, law enforcement personnel recovered one caliber .45 pistol with serial number 1264823; along with items associated with the said firearm including an extended magazine, one short steel magazine, and 14 live bullets.
The warrant was issued earlier this month by Judge Ana Celeste Bernad, acting executive judge for Regional Trial Court-Branch 69, on violations of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
In addition, authorities witnessed Benauro carrying a cal .45 pistol with serial number BA1341, along with being in possession of two short steel magazines with 19 live bullets and one black holster.
The pair are currently detained at the Silay City Police Station./WDJ
