The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office led the groundbreaking for a 2.74-kilometer concrete pathway between Barangays Quipot and Barasalon in Janiuay.
Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. said the project will provide local residents with “ease of travel,” adding, it will uplift their living conditions.
He also assured, the provincial government is considering more long-term projects to benefit far-flung neighborhoods.
The project cost a total of P17 million.
Also present for the groundbreaking were Iloilo third district Rep. Lorenz Defensor, Provincial Board Members Matt Palabrica and Jason Gonzales, Janiuay Mayor Bienvenido Margarico, among others.
In addition, the congressman promised to provide utility poles in order for areas of the said barangays to have access to electricity./WDJ
