Gilas Pilipinas continues to beef up pool

The Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, recently announced the addition of Vic Manuel, Abu Tratter, and Javee Mocon to the pool set to compete in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers. The first qualifying round, where they face Thailand, begins on February 20 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Vic Manuel, a power forward for the Alaska Aces, is making his return to the Gilas squad since suiting up for last December’s Southeast Asian Games, where they took home a gold medal; fellow Alaska Aces power forward Abu Tratter previously represented the Philippines in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers back in 2018; while Mocon, small forward for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, is making his national team debut.
Gilas interim coach Mark Dickel has been reinforcing the team after Japeth Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger, Rey Mark Belo, and Matthew Wright were withdrawn./ASC, WDJ
