Amid an ongoing threat from the 2019 novel coronavirus (nCoV), the Iloilo Hotels Restaurants and Resorts Association (IHRAA) announced, “It’s business as usual.”
IHRAA spokesperson Happy Abenir recently explained that the local tourism business is not dependent on foreign visitors. He pointed out, the local government has done a “good job” in generating local interest in the area.
However, he did note the association has been closely coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH) and other concerned agencies regarding nCoV.
“If there are suspected nCov guests, the instruction is to get in touch with DOH [and the] City Health Office,” the association president explained. “They will send a team with a doctor and nurse to check on the patient first, closely monitor, and then they will make a recommendation.”
There are currently two patients under investigation for nCoV in Iloilo City./WDJ
