In light of reports of an African swine fever outbreak in Mindanao, particularly Davao Occidental, the Bacolod City Task Force African Swine Fever held a meeting last Thursday at the Bacolod City Government Center.
The meeting, which was presided over by task force vice chair, Atty. Goldwyn Nifras, who serves as city agriculturalist, saw two resolutions passed, one banning pork and pork products from Mindanao and the other calling on transport companies to provide footbaths for incoming passengers.
In a previous meeting with Negros Occidental provincial veterinarian, Dr. Renante Decena, the task force recommended Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia to request the Sangguniang Panlungsod to pass an ordinance banning the entry of pork and pork products from affected areas./WDJ
