A man went on a hacking spree last Tuesday in Leon’s Barangay Captain Fernando, leaving four wounded, including the suspect. Authorities identified the assailant as 44-year-old Jomarie Cala-or, who is currently confined at the West Visayas State University Medical Center. In addition, his mother-in-law, 69-year-old Fe Caluyo, is being treated at the same hospital; while stepsisters, 15-year-old Leisly Cala-or and 21-year-old Analie Caluyo, are confined at Aleosan District Hospital.

According to police, the suspect, who was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident, was engaged in a heated argument with his wife. When Caluyo tried to pacify the situation, with both of them armed with bolos, the two slashed each other.

The stepsisters also tried to defuse the situation but were also hacked.

Police have since confiscated the suspect’s weapon./WDJ
