Bacolod falls to Batangas City in the Maharlika League

The Bacolod Master Sardines suffered a 63-54 loss to the Batangas City Athletics in the ongoing 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League-Lakan Cup last Tuesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
After Bacolod narrowed their deficit to 50-44 early in the fourth period, Batangas City sealed the win by delivering 13 unanswered points, capped off by a basket from Jason Melano, resulting in their largest lead of 63-44.
“Defensively, ang ganda ng pinakita namin that’s why okay kami noong dulo (Defensively, what we saw was good, which is why we are OK with how it ended),” said Athletics head coach Woodward Co.
Genmar Bragais exploded with 21 points off the bench for Batangas City, along with three assists and two rebounds; while Melano added 14 markers and nine rebounds; and Jeff Viernes chipped in 10 points, six dimes, five boards, and four steals.
Yankee Haruna finished with 11 points and eight rebounds for Bacolod, while Jessie Saitanan and Negrense guard Edgar Charcos each scored 10 markers./ASC, WDJ
