Negros Occidental picks up seven golds in athletics

Negros Occidental picked up seven gold medals yesterday in the tertiary athletics competition at the 2020 Western Visayas Private Schools’ Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet, which came to a close in Capiz, with John Christian Mediano of Bacolod City ending the day with three medals, winning the men’s 100-meter and 200-meter relays, along with the long jump.
Other gold medal winners include Ailyn Tumbali in the women’s 100-meter dash, Edelyn Banaticla in women’s shot put, Quin Aldrich Canapit in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, and Mhel Char Muyco in the 3,000-meter walk.
Meanwhile, Banaticla also won silver in women’s discus throw, Yogene Kylle Mediana took silver in the 400-meter dash, Arjay Mendrez capture silver in the 100-meter dash, Eina Marie Nebit won bronze in the 1,500-meter and 800-meter dash events, Kimbert Miraflores took bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter dash events, Shiela Marie Abad captured bronze in triple jump, and Faye Deanne Yanson won bronze in discus throw./ASC, WDJ
