The Western Visayas for Serbisyo Negrosanon-Retooled Community Support Program, a joint effort by the Negros Occidental Provincial Government, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police, and Philippine Army to look into insurgency-related problems, visited San Carlos City earlier this week.
San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo led the event, which saw over 300 former New People’s Army supporters gather in the city’s Barangay Codcod, that included National Bureau of Investigation clearance processing; free haircuts and massage; birth, marriage, and death certificate registration; free medical consultations and dental checkups; distribution of free seedlings, canned goods, and rice; and a job fair.
DILG-Provincial North Cluster head Ma. Fatima Daiz said the activity aimed to showcase the government, both national and local, are working together to bring peace and development to everybody, along with encouraging beneficiaries to trust the government.
The caravan next heads to Barangays Quezon, Nataban, Guadalupe, and Buluangan./DGB, WDJ
