Iloilo beats Negros Occidental in football
Iloilo scored a 3-2 win over Negros Occidental yesterday in the ongoing 2020 Western Visayas Private Schools’ Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City, Capiz. The Ilonggo side, represented by Central Philippine University, won their best-of-three series after dropping the first match but leveling the series in Game 2.
Negros Occidental, represented by the University of St. La Salle, took a 1-0 first half lead after Joshua Limco scored in the 28th minute; however, James Karl Tuazon scored an equalizer in the second half.
Towards the close of the match, Wrenz Ivan Lopez put Iloilo up 2-1 in the 84th minute, followed by Khen Bryan Valenzuela adding another goal in the 87th minute.
Ryan Moses then scored a consolation goal for Negros Occidental.
In other results, Iloilo beat Negros Occidental to take gold in the secondary girls’ volleyball title; while also winning the tertiary men’s sepak takraw competition, defeating Negros Occidental in the finals./ASC, WDJ
