A man reportedly slashed his neighbor over the weekend at Purok 5 in Calatrava’s Barangay Laga-an. Authorities identified the fatality as 39-year-old Renato Casilao.
Calatrava Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge, Police Major Rocky Desear, said the suspect, 26-year-old Jerwin Patajo, was later arrested.
The two reportedly attended a birthday celebration when the two were engaged in a heated argument while drinking. The two were eventually pacified and told to go home. A few hours later, the two returned and a physical altercation occurred, when the suspect pulled out a bolo, locally referred to as a “sundang,” and hacked the victim, who sustained wounds across his body.
Police are currently investigating a motive./WDJ
