Five inmates escape from Negros Oriental jail

Five Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) detention facility inmates in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental reportedly escaped from their jail cell yesterday. Authorities identified the escapees as 39-year-old Janly Callao, 30-year-old Julan Paculanang, 25-year-old Ronnie Flores, 24-year-old Joseph Casido, and 49-year-old Lito Pedro.
Based on information provided by the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), Callao, Paculanang, and Pedro were detained on rape charges; while Flores was in jail for illegal possession of firearms and Casido on murder charges.
Investigations carried out by both NOrPPO and BJMP personnel found the group had escaped after jail guards conducted a head count around 7:00 a.m.
The five were being held at the facility’s Cell No.2, where jail guards discovered the escapees destroyed the cell’s wall.
