Gonzales says he has been appealing to the SP for over a year
Bacolod City businessman Vladimir Gonzales continued to ask the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod to expedite the issuance of a Letter of No Objection for his port project on a 232-hectare site at Sitio Sibucao in the city’s Barangay Banago. The letter would permit him to use the said property in lieu of a Certificate of Occupancy.
“There are a lot of investors for the project,” the businessman explained, who was at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol yesterday. “The city government could generate huge taxes and job opportunities.”
“For the reclamation project alone, the investment is pegged at P7 billion, not including the port development,” he added.
Gonzales said he has been requesting the letter for over a year and had last heard from the city government in December, when a public hearing was held.
Additionally, he is also offering a memorandum of agreement that would give the city a 49 percent share.
“Since this is a private company, I will ask the city if they have plans to develop the area,” he added.
Gonzales ran for Bacolod City vice mayor in 2016 as former Mayor Monico Puentevella’s running mate. The pair lost to current Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.
With regard to politics, he said he has no interest in running in the future./DGB, WDJ
