Terminals must provide free
facemasks, sanitizers for passengers
Iloilo City Loop Alliance of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association President Raymundo ‘Boyet’ Parcon said the organization’s 3,000 members are scheduled to meet today regarding a circular recently released by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regarding the 2019 novel coronavirus and mandating drivers to “properly wear face masks at all times while on duty” and for “franchise holders to ensure their compliance.”
He said drivers will be encouraged to bring rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer with them, adding, facemasks will also be distributed during the meeting.
“Bisan gasto sa part namon, para man ini sa amon safety (Even if we have to spend money for it, it is for our safety),” the drivers’ association chief said.
Other transport organizations, including the Iloilo City Alliance of Operators and Drivers Transport Cooperative and Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), operator of the Ceres Bus liner, shared the LTFRB directive with their personnel.
VTI public relations officer Jade Seballos insisted the company is particular when it comes to cleanliness and assured drivers will be equipped with sanitizers.
Meanwhile, terminal operators are also being asked to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in their premises; along with providing facemasks, disinfectants, and sanitizers for passengers./WDJ
