Megaworld CEO named Bacolod

City’s ‘adopted son,’ honorary mayor

As part of the ongoing Bacolaodiat Festival, Megaworld chief executive officer, Dr. Andrew Tan, was conferred as an “Adopted Son of Bacolod City,” along with “Honorary Mayor of Bacolod,” during a ceremony over the weekend at the Bacolod City Government Center.
During the Spring Festival Dinner on Saturday evening, he addressed those gathered and touted the event for its potential in boosting the tourism industry.
“Tourism programs like this allow us to discover more about our culture and, for tourists and visitors, to learn more about the locality,” the CEO said. “Tourism generates jobs and opportunities, [and] allows businesses to flourish.”
“More importantly, tourism makes people happy,” he added.
Upon accepting the new monikers, Tan extended his appreciation to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, along with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and the Sangguniang Panlungsod for passing the resolution formally naming him an “Adopted Son of Bacolod City.”
“Bacolod is the first city in the country that is giving me this title and honor,” the Megaworld official said.
He added, “Bacolod is making a mark not only in celebrating the Filipino-Chinese culture in the province but also in creating more reasons for people to visit.”/DGB, WDJ
