Negros Occidental opens
football event with wins

Negros Occidental opened the football competition of the ongoing 2020 Western Visayas Private Schools’ Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet in Capiz yesterday with wins over Iloilo, scoring a 3-0 win in the secondary boys’ division along with a 1-1 (4-2) win on penalties in the tertiary competition.
In addition, the Negrense side, represented by Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias, also defeated Iloilo in the secondary boys’ basketball event with a 111-88 win over Iloilo.
In other results, the secondary girls’ volleyball event saw Negros Occidental score a 25-15, 25-16 over Capiz, while Iloilo earned a 25-16, 25-18 win over Aklan; Negros Occidental also pulled off a 25-11, 25-15 win over Aklan in the secondary boys’ volleyball competition, while Iloilo went to three sets in their win over Capiz; and in the tertiary women’s volleyball event, Negros Occidental battled to a 15-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-11 win over Capiz.
Meanwhile, Iloilo picked up two gold medals in billiards with May Patrice Santiago winning the women’s 9-ball event and Elan Maris Engada topping the women’s 8-ball competition./ASC, WDJ
