Negros Oriental quarantines resort, hotel visited by nCoV patient

Establishments in Dumaguete City, Dauin affected

The Negros Oriental Provincial Health Office (PHO) announced the hotel in Dumaguete City and Dauin resort visited by the confirmed novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) patient, who is currently confined at a hospital in Manila, have been quarantined. PHO head, Dr. Liland Bustamante-Estacion, said owners of the said establishments have been cooperative with employees awaiting the arrival of a Department of Health medical team.
Both lodging facilities have requested anonymity.
Meanwhile, Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo told Watchmen Daily Journal they have assured the public that they are in control of the situation. He also appealed for local residents to stay calm and practice proper hygiene.
Degamo also said the province is ready to respond to the virus and their provincial hospital has already set up isolation areas.
Earlier, a 38-year-old woman from Wuhan, China tested positive for the 2019-nCoV.
The patient reportedly traveled to Cebu via Hong Kong on January 21 and later visited Dumaguete City./DGB, WDJ
