The Sagay City government destroyed 1,184 illegal mufflers earlier this week, which were confiscated following the implementation of a city ordinance that prohibits the use of “open pipe” motorcycle mufflers.
Mayor Alfredo Marañon III; Vice Mayor Narciso Javelosa, Jr.; Sagay City police chief, Police Major Antonio Benitez, Jr.; among others witnessed the event at the Sagay City Government Center.
A road roller was used to destroy the items, which had been collected since 2017 from drivers originating from across the province.
According to the mayor, such modifications create noise pollution and eliminating their usage will promote safety and order on the road.
