Club also signs ‘homegrown’ LA Galaxy player
Global Makati FC recently announced the signings of three new players ahead of the upcoming 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL), including 27-year-old John Cofie, a former Manchester United youth player, who went on to play for the senior squad from 2011 to 2013.
Throughout his career he has suited up for clubs across Europe, including sides from Norway, Belgium, and Northern Ireland. His most recent stint brought him to Australia, where he suited up with National Premier Leagues Victoria outfit Hume City FC.
The PFL club also acquired former Liverpool youth player Suleman Naeem.
Prior to arriving in the Philippines, he played for other youth teams including Rotherham United, who plays in England’s League One division, and Slovak club Dunajská Streda.
Meanwhile, the club also revealed the signing of Jose Villareal, a homegrown LA Galaxy player in the United States’ MLS.
In 2014, he was loaned to Liga MX club Cruz Azul; played a year with MLS club Orlando City SC; and most recently suited up for USL Championship side Las Vegas Lights FC, where he was coached by former US national soccer team striker Eric Wynalda.
