Don Salvador Benedicto, dubbed the “Summer Capital of Negros Occidental” with a climate similar to Baguio City, will celebrate the annual Kali-Kalihan Festival and founding anniversary from January 31 to February 9.
I attend the event every year and remember Nehemias dela Cruz, a former town mayor and provincial board member, always welcoming his guests and making them feel at home. His legacy and contributions to the town will always be remembered.
He was a very accommodating person with a huge grasp of Negros Occidental politics and his family has since inherited his style, particularly incumbent Mayor Marxlene dela Cruz and Vice Mayor JR dela Cruz.
During the event, DSB showcases their organic produce and dairy products—something one can only encounter in the municipality. Such an experience of communing with nature is priceless as it allows one to unwind and forget the stresses of life.
This year, celebrities from Manila will be coming in to entertain the locals.
On February 8, Jeremy Glinoga, who finished fourth place in the first season of The Voice Teens, along with It’s Showtime’s “Ultimate BidaMan” Jin Macapagal will serenade the Diwata sang Kali. The following day, Mojak will perform stand-up comedy while model and actor Luis Hontiveros will rock the stage. In addition, actresses Barbie Imperial and Jane Oineza will also be on hand to entertain revelers.
The mayor extends an invitation for everybody to come celebrate the town’s 37th founding anniversary and the 30th Kali-Kalihan Festival.
