Second slashing incident

in the town in recent days

A man was detained after allegedly slashing his minor son over the weekend in Igbaras’ Barangay Buga. This is the second hacking incident reported in the Iloilo town in recent days.
According to police, the victim arrived home intoxicated and was confronted by his father, 43-year-old Diokno Velasco, when an argument ensued. The suspect then grabbed a bolo and struck his son in the neck.
The victim is currently confined at Guimbal District Hospital, while Velasco surrendered to police.
It was earlier reported, a 31-year-old man was hacked to death in his home in Igbaras’ Barangay Mulangan.
According to initial investigations by the Igbaras Police Station, an unidentified suspect entered the home around 1:30 a.m. and slashed the victim, Ronnel Elbao, who was sleeping in the living room.
The remains were discovered by the victim’s mother.
Police are conducting an investigation into the suspect’s identity and motive behind the incident./WDJ
