After three years with the Petron Blaze Spikers, middle hitter Mika Reyes will be joining the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors in the upcoming 2020 Philippine Super Liga, which begins next month. The announcement was made in the volleyball player’s Daily Tribune column.
“These changes entail a lot of responsibilities and challenges but, rest assured, I [will] still continue to play my heart out and remain committed with the sport that [has] been so good to me,” Reyes wrote. “It should be taken into consideration, as a professional athlete, I couldn’t shy away from challenges; I am a competitor and I love to push myself to the limit.”
“The time has come for me to move on and challenge myself again in a new environment,” she added.
The De La Salle University alumna went on to discuss her time at Petron.
“Being with Petron taught me a lot,” Reyes wrote. “I became stronger and bolder to step out of my comfort zone and soar to new heights, not just in volleyball but life in general.”
“Petron took good care of me and spoiled me; they gave me bigger room to grow and made sure to address all of my concerns—even to a point that I feel that I was already being pampered,” she added. “Everything I have right now is because of Petron.”/ASC, WDJ
