Two police officers and a soldier face possible misconduct charges after they were caught visiting a Janiuay cockpit last week. Authorities identified the individuals in question as Police Corporal Ricky Setiar of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-6 (602nd Company), Police Staff Sergeant Noli Gallaron of Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit, and Private First Class Derryl Maderse of the Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division-12th Infantry Battalion.
The IPPO raided the Hernani Barranco Cockpit Arena in Januiay’s Barangay Gines after live cockfights were being streamed online, which resulted in the arrest of 82 individuals. In addition, the law enforcement and military officials were found to have left their service-issued firearms with cockpit security.
Three pistols, two 9MM Glock pistols and a 45 caliber firearm, were turned over to the raiding team.
Setiar and Gallaron face administration charges and possible dismissal, while the Armed Forces of the Philippines acknowledged Maderse’s case./WDJ
