In response to Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) deputy director, Police Lt. Colonel Jovie Espenido, characterizing the city as “shabulized,” Mayor Evelio Leonardia pointed out the city’s reduced crime and high volume of apprehensions and confiscations.
“We have to give credit to BCPO director, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, and the BCPO for lowering the volume of crime in Bacolod City,” the mayor explained. “Compared to 2018 and 2019, the drop is about 32 or 33 percent.”
“If you talk about a local government unit’s attention to illegal drugs, we are one of the few who have spent big,” he added. “The construction of the rehabilitation center.”
Leonardia also noted, the BCPO was named number one in the Western Visayas in terms of apprehensions and confiscations.
He went on to call Espenido’s comments a “positive development.”
“If the BCPO concentrates [on] peace and order and Espenido concentrates [on] the anti-illegal drugs campaign, maybe it [will] serve as a solution to clean up the city,” the mayor suggested./DGB, WDJ
