Hua Siong College takes Iloilo

Hua Siong College of Iloilo recently won the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Iloilo qualifying leg at the Western Institute of Technology gym in Iloilo City following an 87-79 win over St. Roberts International Academy. Julian Mavrick Puerto, who was named Most Outstanding Player, finished with 25 points for Hua Siong, while Dave Bagatnan contributed 17.
Both teams took turns taking the lead but, but, by the fourth quarter, Hua Siong broke a 70-70 deadlock with consecutive hits from Puerto establishing an 81-70 edge with just over a minute left.
Despite the loss, Oscar Roy Jacinto tallied 21 points for St. Roberts, while Gwyn Miles Pendon added 15 markers.
Hua Siong advances to the NBTC regionals alongside winners from Capiz and Guimaras./ASC, WDJ
