Tay Tung wins Bacolod
Bacolod Tay Tung High School won the National Basketball Training Center regional qualifying leg in Bacolod City following a 78-74 victory over Colegio De Sta. Ana De Victorias (CSAV) last Sunday at the BAYS Center. Kent Esparagoza top-scored for Tay Tung with 21 points, while Heinz Gabriel Demisana added 13, and Martin Beatingo chipped in 23.
After taking a 58-48 lead, Tay Tung soon saw that advantage turn into a 69-68 deficit following a CSAV run. However, conversions from Fritz Valencia, Demisana, Beatingo helped get back the lead, which they held until the end of the game.
“Since the start of the tournament, the players showed their willingness to win,” said Tay Tung head coach Ronald Despi. “They showed a ‘never say die’ attitude and offered each game to the God.”
Also making up the winning sides’ roster were Josh Luciano, Nathan Jundana, John Mark Mercado, Jules Wong, Joseph Palaganas, Andy Villamer, Ralph Cagalawan, Dritter Ilalto, Lucky Charm Ramos, Benedick Gulmatico, and Leindon Chong./ASC, WDJ
