A call center agent, who had previously surrendered to police as a drug offender, was shot dead yesterday outside his home in Barangay Cuartero, located in Iloilo City’s Jaro district. Authorities identified the victim as 42-year-old Alain Muller, who died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
According to Jaro Police Station chief, Police Captain Eduard Siacon, Muller was standing outside his home around 12:03 p.m. when two armed men wearing face masks and black shirts exited a silver-grey vehicle and shot the victim several times.
Muller was eventually brought to Western Visayas Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries.
Police noted, based on closed-circuit television footage, minutes after the victim exited their home, the shooting incident occurred.
“It seems that there’s a person who gave tips to the gunmen about the presence of the victim,” Siacon suggested.
He also speculated, Muller may have been planning to conduct a “certain transaction.”
However, the law enforcement official pointed out, “Based on our information, he was engaged in illegal drugs but not in our area.”
Police had visited Muller’s home last week in an effort to convince him to enroll in a drug rehabilitation program; however, he refused.
Last August, the victim’s younger brother, who was also working as a call center agent, was shot dead by riding-in-tandem suspects in the Mandurriao district. The case remains unsolved./WDJ
