The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution last week calling on the Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. (Ceneco) to conduct a feasibility study on the proposal to construct a power plant in the city’s Barangay Felisa.
The resolution, authored by City Councilor Dindo Ramos, said the city needs to “look into innovative and conventional sources of energy.”
The city official noted, with the Department of Energy projecting electricity demand to grow around five percent annually, the power plant will prepare the city for a “surge of energy demand in the future.”
“The energy sector plays a very important role in our modern living, where electricity is an indispensable commodity as it energizes our homes, businesses, and industries that boost our country’s economic growth and development,” he explained. “It is imperative that we set up measures to ensure that this requirement is met, including allowance for reserve.”/DGB, WDJ
