Striker Darryl Roberts and goalkeeper Ref Cuaresma have both left Kaya FC-Iloilo ahead of the 2020 Philippines Football League season. Their departures mark the third and fourth exits during the offseason after Negrense midfielder Arnie Pasinabo returned to Ceres-Negros FC earlier this month and forward Jordan Mintah left last month to play for Malaysia Premier League club Terengganu FC II.
According to a social media post by the Iloilo City-based side, it is not clear where Roberts and Cuaresma are headed to next.
Meanwhile, Kaya FC is still without a coach after Noel Marcaida announced his departure earlier this month.
In a lengthy social media post, the former mentor confirmed his departure after his contract, which expired on December 31, 2019, was not renewed.
“It is unfortunate that we now have to part ways but Kaya FC-Iloilo will always occupy a special place in my heart,” Marcaida said. “I will now pursue new paths but would welcome an opportunity to work with the club again at some point in the future.”
“I would like to thank Kaya FC-Iloilo for the opportunities accorded to me these last three years, during which I have learned a great deal and grown as a person and coach,” he added./ASC, WDJ
