Negros Occidental provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, who also heads the Negros Occidental Provincial Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), said the provincial government is considering an upgrade to the current procurement process.
“I have already asked information from technology experts at the Capitol to look [into] putting up one work station just for the BAC,” Diaz said.
“[There] will be only one workplace for the processing related to procurement,” he explained. “From submission of requests to posting on the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System [and the] release of bidding documents, post-qualifications, and notices of awards and contracts.”
Diaz pointed out, the current computers being used are “years old.”
“We cannot use new software on them because they will not work,” the provincial official said.
“If Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson approves it, we will procure seven new computers and two printers for the BAC to use,” Diaz stated. “We could generate documents faster and hasten the process.”/DGB, WDJ
