Negros Occidental provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, revealed, with the ongoing review on delayed provincial government projects, the Provincial Engineer’s Office has been requested to submit the specific names of the project in question and the contractors involved.
Among the projects include the Mambukal Convention Hotel, Pala-Pala Food Terminal, Provincial Administration Center, and a new building near the Bacolod City National Bureau of Investigation office.
“We intend to finish the said projects within the year,” the provincial official affirmed. “There will be no sacred cow in the review of these projects.”
“We will determine the slippage of the contractors,” he added.
Diaz added, projects specifications will also be reviewed.
Earlier, a section of the Mambukal Convention Hotel, located at the provincial government-operated Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia, collapsed last year.
The contractor, Alfies Construction, owned by Elwin Javelosa, shouldered the costs as the hotel is still under construction and has not yet been turned over to the provincial government.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier expressed frustration over the delays of the said projects./DGB, WDJ
